2 years later
Raizada Palace was decked up like a queen. Today was a special day - the grandchildren of Devayani Raizada was getting married. Three mandaps were complete with all decorations. Devayani Raizada, Manohar Raizada and Manorama Raizada was busy greeting guests. But in between all that rush Manorama was worried and kept on checking for her daughter-in-law, but when she finally spotted Payal, she smiled with joy.
Her son Akash was helping the heavily pregnant Payal to calm down and rest in the first rows close to the mandap.
She chuckled recalling how Payal in spite of her pregnant state wanted to dance for the sangeet of her favorite people and Akash had a tough time handling her hormones when she was declined her wish by everyone.
But it was finally Manorama and Anjali who fulfilled Payal's wish by allowing her to a small dance number which didn't require any serious dance steps.
Manorama felt her being taken in a side hug by her husband "Oh Manu, I can't believe that in few weeks we are going to be grandparents. I still remember the day you gifted me Akash and now he is going to be a father".
Manorama wiped her tears before it spoiled her mascara "Aap kya socha? Hamesha yeh evergreen father title rahega? You became an old man now."
Manohar Raizada laughed and replied "ha ha..if I became old man, then you are no better but Manu am very happy today. All my kids are getting married today. I wish...."
"I know...Bhabhis will be happy to see her little ones getting married..she is with us..don't be upset. kids needs you now..its their day..."
"Yes. I know..." Manohar just held his wife close to his heart in a tight squeeze.
Devayani watched her grandsons arriving in full glory. Viren, Sunny, Alexy,Aman, Vinay was assisting Arnav, Pavan and NK to the first row next to the mandap.
NK took his place near Payal and started asking her opinion on how he is looking. Devayani couldn't stop her smile. 2 years back she was worried how everything would turn out. Even though Pavan had agreed to Khushi and NK's request, she knew he still had his reservations. It took GK a lot of effort to finally convince Pavan. But still he took his sweet time to accept Arnav. But when he did, Pavan went to GK for thanking him. The old man was already close to his final days but GK died as a happy man knowing that the daughter, who he received as a god's boon during his final lap of life is going to be happy. Devayani said a thanks to that old man's soul resting in peace and wished if he had been alive today, he would be feeling as happy as she is today.
Khushi was the first bride to arrive with all grandeur with Anjali and Manorama. Pavan had been adamant that it would be his sister who be the first one to marry and the twins had be stubborn that it would be Pavan who be marrying first.
One year back Khushi and NK had had enough with Pavan and Adhiti's silent love story where their eyes only spoke. They tricked Pavan one day to come along with them to Adhiti's house and they proposed Adhiti to be their Bhabhi.
Adhiti and Pavan was equally shocked but before Pavan could recover Adhiti said "No, I can't....." which stunned all three siblings.
Seeing their shocked expression Adhiti quickly rectified her statement by looking straight at Pavan "I have got this dance scholarship for which I am leaving to Chennai. I can become your Bhabhi only after a year"
Hearing this NK and Khushi let out a big relief sigh "Ok. after one year, you could marry my bhaiyya right?" Khushi asked to which Adhiti nodded with a shy small smile.
That was enough for NK to lift Adhiti in joy making her squeak in surprise.
But Pavan immediately warned NK to put her down in his strict tone making NK gulp, Adhiti surprised and Khushi burst out laughing.
Arnav couldn't take his eyes off from Khushi who was looking beautiful as a full moon in all its bright serene beauty. Khushi felt Arnav's eyes on her and looked up to meet his eyes. Arnav who was looking radiant as a sun in its bright glory stole her breath and she smiled at him with all happiness in the world of finally being his.
Pavan did Khushi's kanyadhan and Anjali tied Arnav-Khushi's duppatta for pheras.
NK couldn't help but feel a bit teary eyed seeing his sisso finally getting married to the man she always loved. He saw a white handkerchief passed to him and looked up to see Lavanya smiling at him. He gratefully took it and smiled at her.
Lavanya has become a close buddy to all of them now. It wasn't a surprise at all, well may be initially it was when Sunny told him that he was serious about Lavanya. Alexy, NK and Vinay had doubts whether the long distance will work out but Khushi was confident that it will work out.
Well it worked out, after this marriage today, Sunny was planning to take Lavanya to his home to meet his parents.
Next was Pavan's turn, as he settled in the bridegroom side of his mandap, he saw Adhiti descending to the venue like a goddess in her bridal attire.
The moment her eyes lifted to meet his, sparks flew. He heard Arnav, NK and Akash's discreet cough and he smiled acknowledging their teasing.
Dadi held out her late daughter-in-law's mangalsutra to Pavan. When he looked at his Dadi recognizing it, she smiled at him asking to take it. Adhiti understood the emotion behind that small black beads chain and knew her place in this family and she hoped she could fulfill her role to perfection. Khushi happily held out the garland to Adhiti to put on Pavan but then she suddenly hugged Adhiti saying "Welcome Bhabhi"
The last and final wedding was NK's, who suddenly tensed up. Manorama who came next him asked "Baag ne ko soch rahi ho?"
NK gave her a watery smile. No he didn't want to run but he was suddenly afraid. All these years he had been carefree guy with no responsibilities other than being responsible for Khushi. But now he is going to be a family man...god! he is going to be a husband. He was silently freaking out but when he saw Anu arriving his Adhiti and Payal, he forgot to breathe. It was only when he felt Khushi squeezing his hand in assurance he released his breath. He looked at his siblings who were on side smiling at him reassuringly and he knew it was the right thing to do and he looked at his bride daring her to look at him. Anu was nervous as hell but when she saw NK looking at her with all his love and affection she felt that everything will be alright.
Anu had always kept away from NK, she was polite to him but never reciprocated his feelings.
Of course, she had teased and danced with him on Payal's sangeet but she was afraid to commit to him or even acknowledge her feelings for him. For Anu, her papa was her world; she lived for him, after her mother deserted her and her papa for another man, she had always hated the word love. In her heart she was worried whether one day she would turn out to be like her mother.
Payal had asked her once about her thoughts on NK. Payal who adored NK and knew from Khushi that NK was serious about Anu thought to play a matchmaker since Anu was like a baby sister for her.
But it was the time Anu's father passed away and Anu totally felt lonely in the world. NK had respected Anu's need for space but he made it clear to her that he wasn't going anywhere leaving alone and whatever she feel about herself, he wants her in his life. Finally it was Manorama, Anjali and Nani who convinced Anu to give NK a chance.
And now as NK filled her maang with the sindoor that Khushi held out she knew it was the right decision. They would be happy together.
It was when Khushi leaned forward to tie NK - Anu's duppatta, Arnav noticed a chain around Khushi' neck - his chain - the old chain he had given her when she left India years ago.
He moved towards her and stood next to her watching the pheras "You still have this chain?"
"I thought you will never notice it" She smirked looking at him but then her smile turned tender and warm.
"It was my strength all those years away from you..... I love you Arnav, I always had and always will...".
He hugged her to him saying "I love you too my Khushi...Hamesha!"
Finally LOL!! Oh man! I finished it....the first story I ever wrote...god! It took me some time but finally I did it...I myself can't believe...
This story was completely based on my imagination....my dream of have two brothers who loved their sister to bits....my dream of having twins one day..my dream of marrying a cousin whom I knew from my childhood who loved me too....well I never had all those..but it felt good to convert those dreams to words and present it in the form of a fan fiction...and yea in a grand Karan Johar style..giggles!
There hadn't been a serial which influenced me like IPKNND or these characters - Arnav, Khushi, Nani, Anjali, NK, Akash, Payal, Lavanya, Manorama Mami, Manohar Mama.....even now when I watch those old episodes, automatically I feel good and happy...I know many of you feel the same and that's why we are all here reading this story and on this forum.
Of course I added few of my own characters - regional flim stars giving faces to those characters of Sunny, Alexy, Vinay as Khushi's friends and GK as Mr. Nair. Oh even I had given Viren name to Shyam of IPKKND and brought in Karan Tacker to do the role of bade bhai Pavan...it was cool...
I think I enjoyed most collecting pictures conveying the expressions of each character than writing the story.. But both writing and putting pictures was truly magical...Also this serial gave me a chance to bring in one of my favorite cities Coimbatore into this story and write a complete melodramatic Kerala style tragedy love story of GK - Lakshmi. And one wonderful thing which I hadn't noted but one of the reader pointed out was that in this story there were many "Overhearing" ROFL!
It really feels good to write out all those impossible dreams which will never come true into fictional stories..it gives you a chance to live those dream through words...Sigh!
As I wind up, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the readers who loved this story, shared their views and joys of reading it and who waited for me to write it and complete it when I had put it on an unpredictable long hiatus. Thank you for staying with me.
Once again I dedicate this story to all of you and specially to four people - my sister Adhiti/daljeet, for whom I initially thought of this story thread to write but she forced me to write it out. Well there you go! I had given it the closure you desired. To an old friend who discovered my ability to express emotions in the form of words, who gave me the courage to be a writer. Thank you! I will be forever grateful to you for this!
And to my two little friends who told me that my stories rock - my Kunju and Malu - the childhood part of Arnav-Khushi was their bedtime stories which I used to cook up in my mind while cuddling them to sleep. They were 5yrs and 9 years then but now kids have grown...Hopefully one day when they are matured enough to read romantic love stories, I will present this blog to them as my gift for the lovely memories they have given me.. There! I finished my long speech!
Thank you once again for all your love and affection!
